Harrison East Tower Lobby Remodel, 2009

Working in conjunction with the HOA board and architect Will Bruder, I  was enlisted to help create a lobby remodel on a limited budget that stayed consistent with the historical building aesthetic while offering a fresh perspective.

Mr. Bruder envisaged the blue “canopy” as a way to respect the historical significance of landscape architect Larry Halprin’s vision of a holistic approach to space, environment and social interaction within a modern aesthetic. Will’s outside-in approach became a dialogue between Halprin’s work and his own.

Jane Irvine Interiors worked as a resource agent and was encouraged to find a financially viable option for hall art for the twenty-four-floor building. We commissioned local photographer Christopher Onstott to capture images of Larry Halprin’s landscape design. These images were collaboratively arranged and mounted on foam core board. These beautiful pieces added high impact and reinforced the aesthetic while staying under the $5000 art budget.
